Iranian film 'Mother, I'm Joseph' has succeeded to receive 2018 Silver Palm Award from the Mexico International Film Festival.
Directed by Mohammad-Reza Fartousi, the flick attended the Narrative Feature Competition section of the Mexican film event and succeeded to win the award.
The film, made in Arabic language, tells the story of Joseph, an Iraqi soldier during the 1980-1988 Iraq-Iran war, who refuses to fight.
He is arrested by the army and disappears for a long time. However, to the astonishment of his family and friends, he returns after 21 years.
Fartousi’s directorial debut is a joint production of Iran, Iraq and Kuwait, starring Zahra Alrabiei, Abbas Ghazali, Hamideh Mousavi, Ahmad Heidari and Hamid Hamidi.
Founded in 2011, the Mexico International Film Festival and Awards proudly supports the craft of screenwriting by discovering and recognizing important new talent through the annual Screenplay Competition. The Screenplay Competition features both a feature and short length screenplay competition.
The latest edition of the event has been held in May 2018.
